Mauser Karabiner 98 Kurz

The legendary service rifle of Nazi Germany, developed in 1935 from the Karabiner 98b, essentially a Gewehr M98 with upgraded sights. The 98 kurz model shortened the rifle into an actual carbine, providing a shorter and lighter rifle that performed better with the new ammunition. The combination of reliability, durability, accuracy and power made it one of the greatest bolt-action rifles ever made and the best bolt-action rifle of the Second World War. After the war, examples of the rifle remained in service and it sees use by both civilians and militias to this day.

FallschirmjagerGewehr 42 Ausfuhrung G

A redesign of the early versions of the FG42 rifle, replacing the hollow metal stock with a solid wooden one, giving the weapon a standard pistol grip instead of an angled grip, lowering the rate of fire and adding a heavier compensator for better control during automatic fire. While these modifications made the weapon more durable and increased it's controlability duing automatic firing, the improvement was not stellar. Despite this, the US Army heads were so impressed by the weapon that they commissioned the development of the T-44 prototype and later the M60 machine gun based on the FG42's design.

SturmGewehr 44

Hugo Schmeisser's masterpiece, the StG was the first intermediate cartridge rifle to achieved mass production and success and forever changed infantry combat. Developed from the MP43 and MP44 prototypes and dubbed the "Storm Rifle" by Hitler, the StG allowed for higher volume of controlled fire compared to existing bolt-action, semi-automatic and automatic rifles, giving it superior firepower to existing infantry weapons. While it was made too late to influence the war on Germany's favor, it greatly influenced small arms design after the war, including Kalashnikov's rifles and even Armalite's designs. A great number of weapons remain to this day and are still used in some of the world's hotspots.
