Description
During a stint with the NWA in 1989, Keiji Mutoh adopted The Great Muta gimmick, which drew heavily from The Great Kabuki.

The Muta gimmick has traditionally been kept separate from Mutoh's work under his real name, and the two have been portrayed as different wrestlers. While portraying the gimmick in Japan, Muta joined nWo Japan while fighting against the group as Mutoh.
