Description

The major city of the Western Visayas region, and also the capital of Iloilo: Iloilo City

Once the main core of Metropolitan Iloilo–Guimaras, but due to being underdeveloped it is removed after being not included in the 2017-2022 Philippine Development Plan by NEDA, along with 8 more other metropolitan areas.

It was also known for being the second established Spanish settlement in the Philippines, after Cebu City and even before Manila.

Major improvements focused on public transport and infrastructure, such as Panay Railways, Panay Expressway, and the Iloilo City Subway system, along with the redevelopment of the city proper into Downtown Island.
