Description

A city located at the shadows of the beautiful yet dangerous Mayon Volcano, that is the regional center of Bicol Region and the capital of Albay also known as the "Gateway to Bicol": Legazpi City

In the past, Legazpi already became a city twice before the current one:
* As early as 1892 the town of Legazpi was converted into a city, but on 1908 it was reverted back into two seperate towns, Legazpi and Albay (which is now present-day Old Albay District).
* In 1948, Legazpi became a city for the second time, merging the other nearby towns of Albay and Daraga to form one city. However, on 1954 it was reverted back into municipalities once again, recreating the old towns of Legazpi and Daraga.

Due to its location from Mayon which is one of the famous landmarks in the country, it is one of the iconic cities in the Philippines and attracts many tourists.

Major improvements focused on infrastructure and public transport such as SLEX Extension, Legazpi City Subway system, a network of major thoroughfares, new Port of Legazpi, restoration of PNR Manila-Bicol services, and the new Bicol International Airport at the outskirts of the city, along with the creation of Downtown and recreational districts such as Legazpi Esplanade.
