Description

One of the two major cities in the island of Negros (the other being Bacolod), that is also the capital of Negros Oriental: Dumaguete City

Due to the presence of several universities in the city, Dumaguete is known as an 'university city' that attracts students from other parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

It is the largest city in the province in terms of population, but it is the smallest in terms of land area.

Major improvements focused on public transport such as the Dumaguete City Subway system, new major thoroughfares, Port of Dumaguete expansion, construction of new Dumaguete International Airport, along with the redevelopment of several districts such as the city proper into Central Dumaguete District.
