Description

One of the major cities in the island of Panay, that is the capital of Capiz: Roxas City

The city is known as the 'Seafood Capital of the Philippines', and was originally known as Capiz, until it was renamed in 1951 as Roxas City, which was named after Manuel Roxas, the president of the country from 1946 until his death in 1948.

Major improvements focused on infrastructure and public transport such as the Roxas City Subway system, Roxas Streetcar system, expansion of Roxas International Airport, new major thoroughfares, Panay Railways, Port of Roxas expansion, along with the beautification and redevelopment of several districts such as Roxas Central Park, East Roxas Park, and Downtown Roxas.
