Description
Any fleet needs a primary workforce, a central core from which all ships support. The Black Vulcan is that ship for the Void Dragons. Heavily armed, armored, filled with equipment, and containing 2 hangers, this ship represents the backbone for any major operation. It is a not-quite master of all trades, but it can handle almost any role with decency.

The Black Vulcan is a heavy destroyer capable of wading through even the toughest of firefights, and its turrets already come preset with specific firing parameters. It has the maximum compliment of weapons, with the heaviest hitters on the front, and all other turrets spaced out for maximum angle and range. All the sections on the bottom of the ship are reserved for turrets capable of firing in atmosphere, for bombardment purposes. The armor is dense with an combat steel outer layer and hardened steel inner layer(S). The ship is also fast and very manuverable, for a destroyer. There is also a combat bridge built into the forward section of the ship, for when you expect to get into such a heavy firefight that the main bridge may not survive.

The main reason I built this was not only for the combat capability, but it comes with two rather large built in hangers, one for SVs and another for HVs. The SV doors are on the broadside and portside hull (10x5), and the HV door is in the rear section (9x5). The hangers are also reasonably spacious, enough to fit multiple craft within (or some landcruisers). There is a repair bay in the HV section instead of the SV hanger because unfortunately you can only have one. I figured if worse comes to worse, and SV can fit through those doors if they need to.

As far as efficiency goes, the ship has well over 250 minutes hovering time in atmosphere (Tested on Omicron), on average. It takes roughly 3.5 stacks of large promethium fuel packs to fully fill the tanks. Obviously, fuel consumption when in space/moving/landed has different values. Certain systems in the ship are linked to switches to save power (constructors mostly, 4 of them btw), and there are lights that can be switched on via a global function in space or at night on planet. It has a small hydroponics area with 4 3x3 spaces for a total of 36. There are also two access points to the outer sections of the hull, where most of the turret batteries are located, mostly for repairing if a docking pad is not available.

I have been checking this thing over in every detail I can imagine for the past six hours. Still if you find a texture that seems out of place, a room not oxygenating properly, or just a hole in the wall for some reason, please tell me so I can fix it.

UPDATE 6-6-22 - Fixed some textures, checked for CPU compliance. Converted all interior Hardened steel to regular steel to conserve resources. Ship still functional, though in retrospect its design is a bit aged, I am hesitant to consider it obsolete.

Inspiration for the shape of this ship comes from Sins of a Solar Empire: Maelstrom
