While their best days passed for sure, these gunships are still being saw in all major offensives of Great Empire. With formidable firepower and ability to carry fairly big amount of troops in heat of battle, they are extremely dangerous opponents.

//DEVELOPMENT//

Black Phoenix was one of first gunships that used extremely high rotation turbines which allowed them to fly in thin Martian atmosphere. As it was completely new technology at the time, and in this particular case enormously big, they drained much more energy than was expected. Couple of first prototypes were heavily undermotored.

Auxilliary engines and high power batteries were added at the sides of craft and firstly used combustion engines were exchanged with one single uranium reactor capable of powering one city block.

//WEAPONRY//

For sure that's thing what is keeping this underengineered craft in Imperial army. Quite a few gatling turrets, defensive AA weaponry and mainly Air to Ground missiles made this thing really scary opponent. Especially to McTec tank crews. The Dragon breath a squad of these flyers can produce could definetely stop advancing armour forces.




//ARMOR//

Definetely not most durable of armours that are being made in Great Empire, but Kokuhō's hull can wistand even heavy flak AA weaponry as good as fire from enemy fighters.

Summary. Definetely cost efficient craft. While somehow 'ducktaped' together it is huge threat to enemy armour and infrastructure. The nickname Black Phoenix was given to it by SKI soldiers which saw them literally erasing their cities and military bases, as well as armour units. It was coinsidence that Black Phoenix is direct translate of Kokuhō.
