Stable Rome West

Description
Provides a factionwide +15 Public Order Bonus, +15% Tax Rate Bonus, and a -15% Unit Upkeep Cost Bonus to Western Rome.

The Tax Rate and Unit Upkeep Cost bonuses provide additional help to the Western Roman Empire, as I felt the Public Order Bonus alone was not doing enough to keep them alive. I also did not want to add Unit Attack, Defense, Morale, etc bonuses because I didn't want to affect the battle map for the player's sake.

Designed not as a cheat mod, but to help keep AI WRE alive longer so that they don't fall apart in 10 years.

I tested the updated mod 3 times on easy and very hard using no other mods except this one and the WRE survived, although in decline, 100 turns in. Additional mods and random chance will naturally affect their ability to survive on a campaign to campaign basis.

Update October 5, 2019:

Fixed the WRE not receiving the faction bonuses as intended

Hello Noot Noot - I have been playing using this excellent mod. I have noticed that on Legendary difficulty WRE seems to collapse very quickly. In my most recent save they had lost Britain and Gaul by the time Attila was born.

I realise this may not be supported any more but curious to know whether others are having similar issues. I'm having to prop up both ERE and WRE as the Parthians to have any kind of late game at all. I realise I'm playing as the easiest faction but that should be offset by the difficulty.

Yes, but I strongly suggest not using this as a cheat mod. Its intended as an aid for the AI Roman Empire

Does this apply when you are playing as WRE?

Frankly, I have no clue why it isn't working for the WRE. Checking the PFM for the WRE faction bonuses, it doesn't appear that the paths for bonuses have changed for either the WRE or ERE. ERE bonuses still work as intended. I'll do some testing when I get the chance, thanks for letting me know

It seems a bit like WRE isn't getting the bonuses, most of their provinces have barely a positive public order. Meanwhile the ERE seems to do fine public order wise (I was also running the Stable Rome East -mod). On turn 22 WRE had lost 19 regions but ERE had lost 6 and had retook 4 of them back. I looked the WRE public order values on vanilla and they are pretty much the same as with this mod running.

Thanks for the feedback! When you say "It doesn't work" do you mean the WRE isn't getting the factionwide bonus, or is it not helping the WRE as much as expected?

Other mods, campaign difficulty, and campaign-to-campaign variance will affect the mod's impact.

For example, on my last modded campaign on VH difficulty (playing as the Jutes), the WRE survived 100+ turns in, with territory loses mostly in Gaul and Britain due to loads of enemies all across their northern borders, including me.

My guess is that the severity of early aggression against the WRE (and ERE) will have the greatest impact on their long time survival. If the Romans can stabilize early on, they have a good chance of making it well into the 400s.
