The Point-Type Space Stations serve as minor staging posts, resupply stations and outposts.

Development of these bases started shortly after the attack on Aressia, but the project was not given high priority and therefor only recently came into service, as the need for a network of resupply bases to facilitate the DRO’s expansion became apparent.

These stations usually carry a small compliment of a handful of mostly civilian crewmembers, but the accommodations can comfortably hold 16 persons. In emergency conditions, this can be extended to 32 persons. The stations do have medical facilities but the lack of sleep chambers limit the effectiveness as a medical station.

The stations are armed, albeit only with light defenses, consisting of dual gatling turrets and a grid of defense turrets. Since these stations will mostly have a ship docked however, this is not seen as a major concern.

Ships can dock to the station via four docking ports: Two main ports can accommodate any ship and two auxiliary ports can either dock a ship or a station extension. These auxiliary ports are often used to connect the station with an asteroid or a tether from a planet’s surface, as the Point-Type lacks a refinery by default. Smaller craft can also be serviced on the base’s landing pads.

In service, these stations fill a crucial role in the DRO’s military, as many HDY-built vessels have a limited range and need regular resupply. Stations such as Denver Point serve as the orbital arm of a sizeable surface-based resourcing operation, dedicated to fuel the DRO war machine.
