The only point to selling to Calixto is to get gold, that's it. It doesn't change the amulet, unless you find out what it really is from the court mage.
@Hooligantuan, It probably wouldn't be too difficult to turn the original, unenchanted version, into a regular amulet which you can then enchant. Go for it.
