Silver gets a S.A.R.D.I.N.E: An ISN exclusive report
The Silver Dawn took delivery of her shuttlecraft today; a one-man light exploration craft that SAVTec has affectionately nicknamed the S.A.R.D.I.N.E, or Small Armed Reconnaissance Drone Intended for Neutral Exploration (for short).

The S.A.R.D.I.N.E, like its namesake is a tiny little creature designed purposefully to fit into a very small space.
Its design is based on the Type 12 Light Exploration Vehicle; a brand new iteration of the SAVTec LEV family developed specially for use aboard Silver Dawn.

"Since stowage aboard SLV-3R is at a premium, finding room for a shuttle was always going to be a difficult design challenge" said SAVTec's project lead. "...But as always, our engineers found a way to make it happen. S.A.R.D.I.N.E is of course a ubiquitous design - she'll work with lots of our other ships and probably some by other manufacturers - but we designed her first & foremost to be compatible with the Silver Dawn."

When pressed for more information about the S.A.R.D.I.N.E, our correspondant was given the usual cold stare and told to refer to the official SAVTec press pack, which we've dilligently published here...

We were however allowed to shadow the S.A.R.D.I.N.E on its final approach to the Silver Dawn and were able to snap some shots of one last test flight. Dave Huddersfield ISN's very own retained pilot, himself a Navy veteran had this to say:
"I've been flying high performance fighters for 36 years and I gotta tell ya, I was blown away with how she handled. Keeping up with her, even in my bird was no easy thing. She's fast, agile - looks like she's armed to the teeth too... man I'd love to take her for a spin!"

Security at the SAVTec fleetyard is understandably tight at this time and our team was kept under full armed escort for the duration of their visit.
Off the record, Lucy Rickland, our SAVTec correspondant told us "When I invited the chief seurity officer to comment, he levelled his rifle at us - it was one of those really uncomfortable moments when showing a bit of cleavage just wasn't going to land me a story. I could swear there was tumbleweed."

I guess it depends on what kind of food. I mean if it was raining pizza I wouldn't be looking for shelter! :steamhappy:

Can't say when for sure yet, as still have some work to do on it - but I'm hoping to have it feature in the next SLV-3R episode, so it'll possibly be the next thing I publish. Unless any minor "accidental builds" happen while I'm working on it! Hehe!

The shipyard isn't on the workshop yet. It used to be... It was one of my older builds that got deleted... long story.
I'm currently about halfway through rebuilding it but it's huge & really complex, so it's going to take some time. What you see in the screenshots is just a corner of it that kind of looks finished. Figured it'd make a good teaser.
When it's ready I'll publish it. Keep an eye on the workshop and you wont be able to miss it! :steamhappy:

Oh, I see - you don't mean a version that can land on a planet & then launch back into space - you just mean an atmo-only version! Gotcha!

Yes, that's entirely possible! I can do that no problem!
Hadn't even thought of that to be honest, so thanks for the suggestion!

If I can also nail a design for one that can fly from space to a planet & back then I'll do that as well!

Just tone down on some of the armor for asthetics and use Atmo Thrusters? Might need another Battery to fit in there too, Hydro is just too weight based for a small craft like this unless you only do small flight times and rely on filling a single tank or two from a larger craft. Was just a suggestion, would be impressive if you could pull it off. Good luck!
