Description
Aroo's Smackdown Files #13: Shelton Benjamin

An accomplished amateur wrestler, Shelton Benjamin would transition into professional wrestling in 2000, signing with the then-WWF's developmental promotion, Ohio Valley Wrestling. There, he'd form a tag-team with another budding amateur sensation in Brock Lesnar, who Shelton coached at the University of Minnesota during Brock's wrestling career. Eventually, he'd be called up to the WWE as part of Team Angle, another amateur-wrestling orientated faction, this time with another WWE-debutee, Charlie Haas, and captained by its namesake, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle. Though the faction was short, Haas and Benjamin would remain as a tag-team, dubbing themselves the "World's Greatest Tag Team", becoming a two-time WWE Tag Team champion all the way up until 2004, when Shelton Benjamin was drafted to the RAW brand, making an impact by defeating top superstar Triple H in his first match on RAW.
