Operation Python

Description
Created by the Task Force Red Community. Join our discord to play with us![discord.gg]

Operation Python is a persistent and dynamic ALiVE COOP campaign inspired by the real life Operation Anaconda.[en.wikipedia.org] The mission is built for use on a dedicated server with many clients which will remain persistent between sessions using the ALiVE saving function in conjunction with Task Force Red's scripted saving function. This mission is large and full of many hidden encounters and features, and is estimated to take 5 to 6 weeks to complete!

Features:

- Several playable American units including Airborne, Rangers, and Special Forces created to authentically represent us forces in Afghanistan from the early period Operation Enduring Freedom circa 2002.
- A dynamic Taliban and Al-Qaeda enemy force controlled by the ALiVE Opcom.
- Persistence between multiplayer sessions using the ALiVE Persistence system in conjuction with Task Force Red's own scripted persistence.
- Many hidden random "encounters" and "side missions."
- Persistent logistics and base building system using R3F logistics.
- A "smart" enemy AI using VCOM AI.
- Translator system
- Intelligence gathering and interaction system.
- Enemy HVTs who can be discovered randomly or through gather intelligence from civilians.
- Enemy camps and hideouts.
- Friendly outposts which contain medical and ammunition supplies.
- Music from vehicles featuring a playlist of the greatest hits from 2002 using KLPQ radio.

Direct PBO download for use on dedicated servers.[drive.google.com]

Users have permission to download the mission and edit the mission it as they see fit as long as it is not re-uploaded publicly.

There are two headlessclient slots available named "headlessclient" and "headlessclient (1)".

This mission uses a custom persistence script script for certain units in conjunction with ALiVE persistence. If for any reason an admin needs to reset this persistence, a flag pole is located at the very southeastern corner of the map with a scroll wheel option which will reset all units using this system.

For a more immersive experience, I recommend playing this mission with the following clientside mods:

Mission Overview:

Paktia Province, Afghanistan. March 2002.

Special Forces intelligence believe that the Arma Mountains of the Paktia Province have become a major regrouping point for surviving Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters who have escaped from Tora Bora. Signals and human intelligence have identified patterns which lead us to believe that there are seven major Enemy Area of Operations (EAOs) where the regrouping fighters, with the help of a sympathetic civilian populace, have begun to dig in and launch attacks against American outposts in the region. Task Force Dagger and Task Force Rakkasan are to perform a joint operation to root out and destroy any Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces present in the AO. Due to the extreme nature of the terrain, it is necessary to utilize rotary-wing transportation to navigate and assault enemy positions.

Intelligence has identified seven Enemy Area of Operations (EAO):

Seven EAOs have been identified where the Taliban and AQ are regrouping:
EAO Natty : Several enemy camps are believed to be located in the mountain range in the center of the province. From these mountains enemy fighters patrol the valleys below and launch attacks into the western MSR as well as COP Gillette and COP Weasel. Soviet Era anti-aircraft artillery is believed to be stationed in the mountains of the EAO. Command should prioritize the identification and destruction of AAA sites before launching a ground and air assault to root Taliban and AQ from the mountains of the EAO.

EAO Smirnoff : Intelligence has identified several villages which house a civilian populace sympathetic to the Taliban & Al-Qaeda within the EAO. Insurgent fighters patrol the areas around these towns and hide among the civilians. From these towns they also launch attacks against COP Gillette and COP Weasel. Command should prioritize clearing the hills and valleys surround the COPs and then clearing the villages of enemy forces. Work to gain the local population’s trust.

EAO Keystone : Enemy fighters are using heavy caliber weapons to launch attacks down into the western MSR from these mountains. Believed to be a buffer area established by the Taliban between Prozakhar Airfield and EAO Jameson. Soviet Era anti-aircraft artillery is believed to be stationed in the mountains of the EAO. Clear the MSR to make the route safe and identify and destroy enemy AAA sites before launching ground and air assaults to clear the surrounding mountains.

EAO Jameson: The highest point of the province and the hardest area to access unless by air. SAD/SOG and CAG have been tracking senior Taliban and AQ leadership which fled from Tora Bora is believed to be hiding in these mountains. Numerous large camps and concentrations of enemy fighters have been observed. A significant amount of Soviet Era anti-aircraft artillery is believed to be stationed in the mountains. While there is a large amount of fighters, they are less dug in these mountains due their disorganization from the retreat from Tora Bora.

EAO Miller: Numerous enemy camps are reportedly set up in the narrow valley. Enemy forces have reportedly dug themselves into the sides of the mountains surrounding the valley to create a kill zone. Enemy AAA artillery is also present and is a priority for identification and destruction. Satellite intel reports possible surviving armor captured from the Northern Alliance being hidden in the valley as well and should also be a priority destruction as well.

EAO El Toro: NW most area in the province, similar terrain to EAO Miller where numerous enemy camps are reportedly set up in the narrow valley. Enemy forces have reportedly dug themselves into the sides of the mountains surrounding the valley to create a kill zone. Enemy AAA artillery is also present and is a priority for identification and destruction. Satellite intel reports possible surviving armor captured from the Northern Alliance being hidden in the valley.

EAO Budweiser: This EAO contains the most populated and low lying areas of the Paktia Province. There are several large settlements within the valley which have been overrun by the Taliban including the largest city, Ovallestan. Ovallestan also contains the Blue Mosque, the most holy site within the province. It is reported that Al-Qaeda has occupied the Blue Mosque as their base of operations for the area. Contrary to the rest of the province, this EAO has the most flat and urban terrain, expect urban combat operation. Taliban armor has been reported to be within this EAO to the west/northwest.
