Description
The Mako Class Battlecruiser is a size class 4, quad main thruster heavy warship combining the mobility and agility of a cruiser with the firepower of a battleship. Sized between the Okita Class Battleship and the Mjolnir Class Cruiser, the Mako Class Battlecruiser can deliver massive striking power from it's broadside where it can bring more of it's weapons to bear. Unlike slower battleships that need their heavier armor to take enemy fleets head on, the battlecruiser is designed to hit along an enemy fleet's flanks and keep moving, a hard hitting raider.

Equipped with dual bridges, one up top for high visibility, and another deep in the hull, the battle bridge. Landing space for a single small vessel is at the aft. Boarding the ship when landed is through the protected entry along the bottom. Hull shaping takes advantage of lessons learned during Kodai Class Destroyer construction, making the Mako Class Battlecruiser a direct "relative" to the Kodai Class.

Ship overall design and shaping inspired by the series Space Battleship Yamato, though the Kodai and Mako classes bear no direct ties to any specific ship of that series. The Mako Class Battlecruiser occupies a similar role to the Okita Class Battleship in the Fleet Tactical Battlegroup doctrine, adding the additional roles of fleet flank harassment and quick reaction reserve optimizations. A third potential role for the Mako is as fast escort for the Farragut class when it's operating in fast carrier mode, bringing the direct fire artillery and heavier armor that the Farragut lacks. The Mako and the Farragut are optimized for close cooperation.

All Fleet Tactical Battlegroup doctrine certified ships adhere to basic survival rules and are limited to size class 5 as the largest vessel, and scale downwards from there (Mako being size class 4). While usable in single player survival, all Fleet Tactical Battlegroup doctrine ships shine brightest when used in multiplayer with a team of players. All ships are MP and PvP ready, having heavily firewalled internal components and dual bridges (one bridge for normal flight/PvE, secondary bridge internally for PvP called a "battle bridge").

Update: Significant detail fixes and corrections made. Overall appearance unchanged, but detailing added to all thruster enclosures, and outer decking. Paint job cleaned up.

Update 2: Nose cosmetic appearance modified with new paint. Nacelles better armored and additional side thrusters added. Better firewalling internally of fuel tanks.
