Humans get deep lord as their race has naval related bonuses such as mariner and apparently make good navies i guess
Dwarves get stone giant because it is a rock and rocks are big, sturdy, and hard to knock down and because they love mining(I think).
Orcs get glutton because they had a racial unit just like that in aow2
High elves get a king shock serpent because they have a lot of shock related damage bonuses
Tigrans get phoenix for obvious reasons
Halflings get a golden dragon as it can represent their optimistic and bright nature, after all their expansion is called "golden realms"
Draconians get fire dragon for obvious reasons
Frostlings get frost dragons for obvious reasons
Goblins are the only one that don't make sense to me. A king reed serpent would've been much better suiting to them, as they are green-skinned and have poison/blight related damage/resistances.
Human, High Elf and Halfling choices are weird indeed.
Golden Dragon really should belong to High Elves.
