The Missing Heir

Description
Join the party of four as they search for the kidnapped son of King Mansell.

9 level dungeon, extremely story driven, with three different story lines that merge into one near the end. Features a multi-stage boss fight. About 5 - 7 hours of play time.

There is a lot of reading in this
mod. It is not required to read it to play
the mod, but in many cases movement is
restricted until the text is finished.
You will just have to wait it out. The
3 note Discover Spell sound will alert you
to new text should your attention be focused
elsewhere.

Set up for a new party. Must have four champions or mod will not function properly. Does not support Toruum mode.

There is no death in this mod, players are rendered unconcious for a short period. If all 4 members are unconcious then it's game over.

This mod uses the new LoG Journal to maintain a summary of the game events. Press the C key to
open and close the journal. The level up sound
(single note chime) indicates a new entry.

Use common names for party members. Some guidelines for creating the players in order of the creation screen (top to bottom)
1) The party leader and a significant part of the story line.
2) The somewhat serious member, intelligent.
3) The joker, a bit sarcastic.
4) The pessimist.
These are just some suggestions.

35 notes tell the story of the citizens of Steeprock. 26 secrets to find. Be sure to spend some time reading the scrolls in the library on level two. It's full of references to other games, classic literature, televison shows, a few of my favorite books and a couple game hints and easter eggs.

Much easier than the original. Should be playable on hard by anyone with previous Grimrock experience.

Plenty of food. Starvation should not be an
issue, but you should still try not to waste any.
A note to be fair - no torch holder puzzles and
nothing hidden behind tapestries.

Please read the readme.txt file. It has much
more detailed info on the mod as well as proper credits and thanks.

Thanks to everyone at Almost Human and
the Grimrock forums.

I know this mod may not be every ones cup-o-tea, but if a few people enjoy it I will consider it worth the many hours I spent making it.

This is my first ever mod of any kind.

Thank you for reading this far and playing "The Missing Heir"

Hey, I'm stuck at the "Beyond this hall a test awaits. Face the door and tempt the fates" part. I CANNOT read the directions on the note on any pattern. With 2UL.D I've tried Up, Up, Left, Left. Down - Up, Left, Up, Left. Down - nothing works, I end up bumping to a wall. I don't even know when the steps start to count. Any tips?

Nice, good to have some good content. :)

I'm stuck at the cellar of trials at the button that keeps telling me access denied. I found a note which indicates a direction sequence which I assume is related along with the corresponding button after the teleport that 'erases your steps'. However I've not been able to figure out how to piece it together and get that gate to open.

I'm gonna revive this mod! I'm writing a story that's very loosely based on it. And I'm gonna put a link to the mod at the begining. Hope that's okay. :)
Though if you ever feel like it, it would be awesome if it was recreated for LoG2. Anyone?

Tryssa, again I apologize for not checking in. Your issue may be more dire. The mechanism is really simple, when you pick up the book, it shuts the door and begins the history talk. At the end the door should open automatically. I couldn't imagine why it wouldn't open but upon further review of the dungeon I found there is a potential bug if a person happens to put an object back into the alcove the history book came from, and then pick it up again it would cause the counter to advance and then when the story ended it would not open the door.
Unfortunately I think Tryssa will need to revert to a saved game.

MLE-lou, I am not quite sure which key you are referring to. If you found the riddle you then open the door with the pull chain just to the left. Follow the directions on the riddle and at the end of the room is a button. Push the button and if you followed it correctly the grate opens and you get a key, if not a portal sends you back to the start. There is a wall button near the start you need to push to reset the counters if you get portaled back. If this doesn't help I will need a little better description.
Thanks for playing and I apologize for not checking in.

Any hints or help for @tryssa and me?

I must offer apologies to the previous posters. I have not checked in for quite sometime as I thought this mod had pretty much run it's course. But it appears there is still an occasional player or two stopping by. I will check in more frequently.

Hi there! Could I ask for some help? I'm currently stuck in the 4th level I have access now to the door by the riddle with the up,down, left, right directions. But I can't actually get to that riddle, and I am denied access to the key in the back of the adjoining area. Did I miss something? Thank you btw! I am having the time of my life with your mod!
