Heroes of Earth

Description
This mod should make it feel a little more like the armies of Earth are actually sending you their Special Forces.

Specific changes:

Soldiers now start at 24 years of age instead of 21.

Soldiers spawn with a minimum of 55 Action Points and 45 in every other category; and a maximum of 75 Bravery, and 65 in every other category.

Soldiers can gain a maximum of 2 AP, Accuracy Bravery, and Reflexes in one battle, 1.5 Strength in one battle, and up to 10 Reflexes in one battle. Resilience (+1 HP) is gained every 3 increases in any other attribute instead of every 5.

Soldiers ranking up costs approximately twice as many progress points (any increase in stats not including Resilience,) because they come faster. The final rank up (to 8) costs three times as many as before.

Ranks have been renamed; instead of a cadre of five-star badasses, the ranks are now Private, Private First Class, Corporal, Lance Corporal, Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Lieutenant, and First Lieutenant.

Soldiers should now be much more likely to come back alive from being reduced below 0 HP. It's not a certain thing, but you shouldn't be recruiting up to four rookies after every battle because the aliens come out of nowhere and slaughter your soldiers without anyone getting a reaction shot.

Soldiers are also more likely to come back alive if their transport gets shot down, unless they get shot down over enemy territory, in which case they're probably not coming back (hunted down and killed by regular human forces aligned with the invaders in the area.)

Thanks to Barleyman for the mod which I took apart to figure out what he did and how he did it: BarleyTroops. [ https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=493408818 ]

1.05: Lance Corporal and Corporal have been switched. Thanks to Shinzyboo for pointing out that I was derping WRT rank hierarchy there.

Again: if this mod is not working for you, go back through the comments for the simple fix from Caravan of Souls. You have to edit an xml file, but it is really easy.

This doesnt seem to work in my game. Does it require a new game? Also the ranks are incorrect.

good stuff. only nitpick is that lance corporal is a lower rank than corporal, at least irl

@ColdHeat it depends on the nation (IRL) but there are indeed SF troops who have the rank of private and corporals (although more often corporals) it's not an automatic promotion just by getting in SF

Soldier ranks could be improved imho. When the earth sends it's elite forces it's easy to say extremely unlikely that they send Privates or even Corporals. They will send trained soldiers that already have a higher rank due to a prolonged time of training, service and qualification.

You should therefor delete those ranks for the sake of immersion and instead add Specialist Ranks as the lowest, more Sergeant Ranks and more officer ranks. No problem with having a Captain or Major commanding their troops in the field as long as promotions dont happen just after every second mission.

Higher officer ranks should ideally be limited still. So 1 staff officer per 20 soldiers in a base if that would be possible.

@The Entire Soviet Union, I assume you mean the "gameconfig.xml" by mentioning "settings.xml" ?

Anyone interested in using this mod now, it will not work unless you apply the easy fix described by Caravan of Souls a few comments down. Just find the mod in your game directory and edit the settings xml with notepad. I tested it using CE.
