or maybe tribals like it as a good source of fuel for their campfires :)

There's no need for any particular ratio of weights either. Large-scale cash transactions use hundred dollar bills. You have many denominations of bills in real life. In this case it can probably be assumed that you're dealing solely in hundred dollar bill equivalents.

If there were a way for some people to value the dollar bills more than others that could be useful. Perhaps tribals don't care much about these bills because they rarely trade with outlanders, for example.

Well it all depends on what government is backing the currency if it's fiat, or if it's backed by specie like silver or gold. US Dollars are used globally and are the primary currencies in Somalia, for example. If some Glitterworld corporation has significant presence on a planet, or if a coallition of Outlander factions have created a space-Eurozone with their own paper currency then it makes sense that it's widely used. The fluctuation in the price of the paper currency is best thought of as changes in your ability to get a good price for _silver_. Though it would also be an indicator of how much the other party is screwing you out of your money on all other transactions with the currency too.

hi i think the paper idea is cool even also with silver still being there. the multiplier probably does need changing so that its worth almost as much as silver, but if the paper isnt too heavy, then the main benefit i can see is weight..

i went on a caravan trip and took some high value items, but when i sold them for silver, my group counldnt move because the silver was too heavy :) so i had to end up trading more items for items, but if each trader or faction has a random, limited amount of paper money, it could be a cool way to trade for lighter material (which speed up your caravan trip a bit) but it wouldnt be worth 100% the same as silver, since you can do so much more with silver.

maybe 90% of silver could work but i dont kknow the maths yet :)
