Bao'an District is a municipal district in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China. Located in the northwest of Shenzhen, the east bank of the Pearl River estuary, facing the Nansha District of Guangzhou, is the only adjacent area between Shenzhen and Guangzhou. Bao'an District was established on November 11, 1992. The current jurisdiction area is 553.82 square kilometers, and the district people's government is stationed in Xin'an Street. In 2006, the population of the jurisdiction was 3.38 million, of which the registered population was about 400,000. The industry in Baoan District is mainly based on manufacturing industry, especially the electronic production is quite developed and distributed in Xixiang area. Shenzhen Baoan International Airport is located in the district.
