McDonnel XF-85 Goblin

A parasite fighter meant to be deployed from and to defend B-36 bombers. The Goblin was a small craft designed to be as compact as possible, possessing folding wings and no landing gear, as it was meant to deployed from bombers and picked up by said bombers. While the design was promising, a combination of inferior performance, complicated deployment and retrieval, the problems associated with parasite fighters and the development of long-range fighters and air to air missiles caused the project to be cancelled. Only two protoypes were built, both of which were donated to museums.
