add this to your autoexec.cfg

bind "kp_home" "toggle cl_crosshair_alpha 0 255; play ui/buttonrollover"

press numlock 7 to disable/enable default crosshair

or type in console cl_crosshair_alpha 0

in 2018 valve decided to block addons on official servers

you can change the keybind to any key you like

jus change "kp_home" to example "p"

bind "p" "toggle cl_crosshair_alpha 0 255; play ui/buttonrollover"

I really like this crosshair. The only downside to it is that it's really bright and is hard on the eyes while aiming. Other than that the design and accuracy is on point! 8/10

the black cross stays the same because its the alpha aplied to the image.
i had the same probs when i tryed to edit a vtf image
in photoshop you could enable/disable the border maybe it doesn't work in gimp
