Description
This is a faction who instead of having turrets or drones or cannons, has almost all of its weapons and shields mounted on immobile, strong, heavy drones called buoys. Buoys have long cooldowns and must be placed strategically. Every Buoy launcher has 4 weight classes (light, medium, heavy, colossal), with increasing power, cooldown times, and buoy lifetime.

Shields are not mounted on the ships themselves, rather mounted on buoys. These shields are larger and more powerful than typical shields. There are three shield types; normal shields which are normal, frequency shields which have massive radii and have only 1 hp and fast recharge, ideal for tanking large explosives but bad against lasers. Finally there are tank shields which have tiny radii but are almost indestructible.

There are flamethrowers, some very deadly emitters, railguns with stupid recoil, mortars, autocannons, and both short and long range PD.

The only turrets you actually control are two gravity beams and two healer beams. Healer beams have varying range, and the gravity beams have great range with either push or pull to ensure you can keep enemies within desirable proximity of the buoys.

You have 2 armor types. Strong with slow regen or weak with lightning regen.

If you like actually shooting things, you're gonna hate this mod! If you ever had fantasies of tractor beaming sad enemies towards your massive drone swarm and waching them explode, or ever dreamed of bulldozing your weapons to enemies, you might like this.

LORE:
They call themselves the buoymen. While most civilizations use rockets, artillery, spaceships, nukes, and sharp sticks to conquer their planets, the buoymen were different. When inevitable global war struck their race, they invested heavily on stationary satellites, armed with various weapons and defenses. They liked these weapons and after their global war phase they made deep space variants called buoys. Buoy-mounted weapons and shields suffer less engine distortion, allowing them to be more powerful. This is the end of the lore because I am a bad author and am tired.

If you like the balance of your mod, than don't worry about changing health/speed values, I was mostly askin since I wasn't sure if it was something that you could fix or if it's something that should be considered by the developer.
All things considered, I think the best option would be to drop the dev a message about this, and see what they think about adding drone targeting.
It's probably not a big problem with your mod, but the other one I've seen had large drones (I think they got as big or bigger than the starting vanilla sentinel ship, but much faster and deadlier).

I wish that Steam allowed more than 1000 characters (I understand that this is to go against spamming stuff), because there are so many things I like about this race.

- Diversity in equipment

That is a bit of a problem, but I'm not sure what I can do to make buoys targetable. I could always reduce their health should they be proven too hard to kill.

There is one problem (small to large depending on your faction) with this kind of mechanic, at least, if it works the same way as another mod I've tried.
Basically, if you are fighting against this faction, you can't lock onto the "buoys"/"not drones".
Is this the case with this faction?

This is actually a really cool idea, I'll test it out and give you some feedback
