Description
An Updated Version Of This Mod Can Be Found Here

Ever wanted to play a truly science focused machine empire or hive-mind, but were disappointed that there were not enough science bonuses compared to organic empires that are research focused?
This mod attempts to rectify that.

Currently, this mod adds two civics,
  • Inquisitive Researchers (for machine empires)
    • +10% Research Speed
    • Enables the use of academic privilege living standards (now called 'Academic Optimizations')
    • The 'Research Prioritization' edict, which costs 200 influece and increases your research speed by +10% for a default of 10 years, can be used.
    • Replaces some Coordinator jobs from Adminatrative Arrays, Planetary Processors and Primary Nexuses capital buildings with 'Examinatron' jobs
  • Inquisitive Hive (for hive-minds.)
    • +10% Research Speed
    • Can use 'Academic Optimizations' living standards
    • Can use the 'Research Prioritization' edict
    • Replaces some Synapse Drone jobs from Hive Core and Hive Nexus capital buildings with 'Myoneural Drone' jobs
Both these civics can only be added or removed at game start and are incompatibile with other special civics like Rogue Servitor and Devouring Swarm.

  • Examinatrons/Myoneural Drones increase planetary research output by 10% per job, a maximum of 2 jobs can be acquired from capital buildings (Administarive Arrays and Hive Cores give 1 while Planetary Processors, Primary Nexuses and Hive Nexuses give 2)
  • Thus, a maximum of 2 Examinatron/Myoneural jobs can be acquired per planet, increasing research output by 20% on that planet, this was mainly done to match Technocracry's increased bonusses in Stellaris version 2.2

Lastly, this mod adds two new prescripted empires, a hive-mind and a machine empire, both using these new unique civics.

(note: The hive-mind prescripted empire (probably) requires you to be logged into your paradox account to access it, since you can only use that portrait then. If so, sorry about that. If it does do this and causes problems let me know.)

This mod overwrites several vanilla entries, and may be incompatible with mods that modify the same entries.
  • living_standard_academic_privilege species right in Stellaris\common\species_rights\species_rights.txt
  • living_standard_academic_privilege, living_standard_academic_privilege_tooltip, and ETHIC_ALLOWS_ACADEMIC_PRIVILEGE in Stellaris\localisation\english\l_english.yml
  • building_supercomputer in Stellaris\common\buildings\05_research_buildings.txt
  • building_machine_capital in Stellaris\common\buildings\00_capital_buildings.txt
  • building_machine_major_capital in Stellaris\common\buildings\00_capital_buildings.txt
  • building_machine_system_capital in Stellaris\common\buildings\00_capital_buildings.txt
  • building_hive_capital in Stellaris\common\buildings\00_capital_buildings.txt
  • building_hive_major_capital in Stellaris\common\buildings\00_capital_buildings.txt
  • building_hab_major_capital in Stellaris\common\buildings\00_capital_buildings.txt

If you have any suggestions or feedback, I would very much like to hear it, feel free to leave a comment.

Small correction, though I'm sure you understood. It should be that you can build it during the 3rd tier of the colony building, but not the 4th. (I forgot to consider the original one you get when you first colonize a planet ^_^) Anyways, my apologies if it's not that mod that alters it, I've never made mods for Stellaris. However, I don't have any other mods that alter that specific building so I can only assume.

Hey there, first of all thank you for making this mod, I really like Machine Empires and it's great for playing tall. I have noticed a small bug though which I believe is coming from this mod.

While playing a Machine Empire, it is not possible to build the Planetary Supercomputer on a planet that has a Planetary Nexus colony building (3rd tier,) you are only allowed to build it with a Planetary Processor colony building (2nd tier.) I've been working around it, holding off on upgrading until I have the tech for the Supercomputer researched so it's not totally game breaking.

@MayhemX8 Good idea, I'm a bit busy right now, but I'll see what I can do. :)

Could you add a Research civ for Megacorps? I was excited about 2.2 initially because I thought I would finally get to play Elon Musk in space...

Even just a flat 10% research speed bonus would be decent, but making it unmistakably Megacorpy would be cool too.

Thanks for letting me know.

Ugh, this means I'll have to overwrite more vanilla files...
