Description
What is this mod?
Pretty much something I threw together on a whim to allow the proper construction of pure beam boats and gunboats without compromising damage against ships with heavy shields or armor.

What it adds.
Alternative companion weapon components for vanilla weapons that deal damage to the opposite defense type (shield/armor). The AI and ship auto-generator even mix and match the new weapons with vanilla weapons on their own. Below is a list of each vanilla weapon and their new counterpart:

Anti-Shield
  • Mass Driver > Ion Emitter
  • Coilgun > Ion Surge
  • Railgun > Ion Stream
  • Advanced Railgun > Ion Pulse
  • Gauss Cannon > Ion Ray
  • Autocannon > Electron Discharge
  • Ripper Autocannon > Electron Blaster
  • Stormfire Autocannon > Electron Cannon
  • Kinetic Battery > Particle Flare
  • Kinetic Artillery > Particle Burst
  • Mega Cannon > Polaron Barrage
  • Giga Cannon > Polaron Cascade

Anti-Armor
  • Red Laser > KEP Driver
  • Blue Laser > AP Coilgun
  • UV Laser > AP Railgun
  • X-Ray Laser > HVAP Railgun
  • Gamma Laser > HVAP Gauss Cannon
  • Plasma Thrower > AP Bolt Cannon
  • Plasma Accelerator > HVAP Shredder Cannon
  • Plasma Cannon > HVAP Storm Cannon
  • Proton Launcher > Sabot Battery
  • Neutron Launcher > Sabot Artillery
  • Particle Lance > Goliath Cannon

Compatability
This mod shouldn't conflict with any other mods.

Paradox needs to add version number tags so people stop guessing if a mod is up-to-date without looking at it's last-updated date...

Didn't look like anything changed in the mod itself, but updated the version numbers as a test to familiarize myself with the new launcher. Hoping I didn't inadvertently break anything due to unfamiliarity with the new launcher.

The electron cannons are mirrors for the autocannons. Small, low damage but fast-firing, high tracking, etc.

However, vanilla autocannons don't have sizes larger than small so there's no reference to work from for larger sizes. :\

Great mod but literally the only weapon that isn't available in medium and large is my weapon of choice, the plasma cannon, and that has a -75% shield damage in vanilla, which sucks.

Is there any chance you could add sizes medium and large to the Electron Cannon?

v. 2.2.2 is oficially released (i suppouse), but im gonna try it regardles of big red "!" in launcher ;)

Mostly been focusing on getting one of my other, bigger mods caught up to 2.2. Though I don't really play with test versions in general.

Of course unless a patch dramatically changes the vanilla weapon stats or scripting structure this mod should be pretty safe to play even if the launcher has the game version warning.
