Description

Possibly the most dreaded ships of their class, Eradicator Light Carriers are capable of making mince-meat of frigates and destroyers, and have even been known come out on top in combat with heavy cruisers. The Eradicator's excellent combat capabilities come from its armament, a whopping 171 total "defensive" turrets and its 12 broadside rocket launchers on each side. All this armament comes without compromise, being that a single Eradicator Light Carrier can field up to 10 Bantam Mk.IIs, White Dwarf's new interceptor specially adapted for use with the Eradicator. In addition, a single Wolfhound Superiority Fighter can be stored in the forward bay located in the bow. Up to 6 of White Dwarf's new Sentinel Experimental Light Tanks can even be stored in the hangar in place of interceptors to be dropped to a planet's surface from orbit. As for the Eradicator's non-weapon defensive systems, the Eradicator is equipped with an 8G gravity shield, and 12 advanced decoy launchers that can be activated four at a time to draw enemy fire away from the ship at critical points in a battle. The Eradicator Light Carrier also comes with all other features found on the Retaliator Artillery Frigate.

- Definitely the largest ship I have ever created ;), I started this in February and have been working on it off and on for the past 10 months, and now it is finally done.

Got ya. Thanks!

They're the sort of thing you replace back at port after the battle.

Another daft question from me - I'm assuming the decoy launchers are designed to be reloadable - as they have projectors. But they have no welders?

Good luck :D

To be fair, me trying to manoeuvre a pre-welded sub-grid into place using a projector ship so I can attach it to a rotor, is kind of entertaining, just not very productive!
I'm guessing there's a design reason for small-grids with turrets - access to small-grid turrets perhaps? :)
I don't want to reduce the weapon count - I'll man-up and get welding.

Awesome! There really isn't any good way to do it since Keen still hasn't added subgrid projections. If I were to build this in survival, I would just replace the small grids with like hydrogen thrusters or something for better maneuverability.

At 400ish hours, I'm still pretty new to SE - so bear with me. I'm building this ship in my survival playthrough, and so far so good.

What cunning methods do you expert builders recommend for adding all the small-grid sub-grids? So far I've tried various methods involving blueprinting the subgrids in Creative mode, and then attaching them to the rotors - but this is fraught with clanginess; I'm beginning to think it might be just as quick (and probably easier) to just weld them all up from scratch, using pictures as templates?

Much as I'd love to use an engineered solution (it is, after all, the point of the game) - I'm bustin' to go play with my new Carrier, and all these fiddly post-fixes are a wee-bit frustrating!

Anyhoo - looks like a great ship - can't wait to take it into the black.

......well it just randomly started working sooooooo cool

Strange. Perhaps have a friend spawn it in, then you can take a local blueprint of it?
