sorry StatueOfMike, for now this doesn't seem to be possible. Maybe after a patch or two.
Only thing I got out of your example was crashes.

Steps taken:
I tried your example converted to work for the warmage: http://pastebin.com/MkQ3MU5Y
Result: Crash

I tried a full entity with a crazy regen level just to make testing easy: http://pastebin.com/6N3ck2qt
Result: worked perfectly

I took that crazy regen file and deleted everything but the energy regen: http://pastebin.com/SzkWrE8Y
Result:Crash

I tried a bunch of varients, trying to find the magic works-with-small-footprint.. and didn't get anything that worked..
