111 South Wacker

111 South Wacker is a 51-story glass office tower in Chicago's Loop. Just two doors down from the Sears (Willis) Tower, this modernist monolith went up in the mid 2000s at the same time as its nextdoor neighbor, the Hyatt Center (not on the workshop yet), and bears an uncanny resemblance to the Blue Cross Blue Shield building nearby.

Other than its striking glass facade and V-braces holding up a 7-story parking garage at the base of the tower, this building stands out thanks to its unique lobby. Enclosed by a sheath of fin wall glass, the front desk and three main cores of the building are exposed to passersby, with the parking ramp circling overhead - creating a dramatic corkscrew ceiling.
