Description
This is a type of coal wagon found in New Zealand. They were introduced in the mid-2000s on the so-called 'Genesis Energy Coal Trains', which carried imported coal from the Port of Tauranga to Huntly Power Station. Those operations ceased a fair few years ago, but I can't remember exactly when. Thanks to a tip-off from KiwiTrains1250, I found out that New Zealand is now having to import coal again, because - apparently - the country is not producing enough coal to keep up with the steel production.

I've seen two coal trains - both empty - in the week before making this reskin. The first encounter was on Friday the 15th of December, when I saw DL 9187 bring a rake of CET's through the crossing near Bayfair shopping centre. The second encounter was on Sunday the 16th of December, when I saw DL 9158 cruising through Te Puna with another rake of empty CET's bound for Mount Maunganui.

There is a crossing loop not too far down the line from where I saw DL 9158, going towards Tauranga - that is. Only around 12 minutes after DL 9158 went through, DL 9348 came through heading towards the Kaimai Tunnel with a container train bound for Auckland.
