Mysterious Fortune (v6.2)

Description
This is my first upload to Kenshi, please be kind!

Mysterious Fortune!

Richer than everyone in the entire wastes, congratulations! However, everyone knows about this wealth and are trying to kill you for it!

You have hired a band of loyal mercenaries to protect you and your fortune, but how loyal are they really? You have the entire Mercenary Guild in your back pocket so they may be able to aid you when the going is tough.

Start;
1 Rich Character
2 Mercenaries
2 Crossbow Mercenaries
1 Heavy Mercenary

Features;
  • 6 Starting Characters
    • Rich Character (x1) - Main character. Weak, basic clothes, begineer's weapon, and low stats.
    • Mercenary (x2) - Basic mercenary that I handcrafted from scratch. Overall decent stats, focused on melee, defence, and speed. Light armour, sabre, couple basic medipacks.
    • Mercenary Bowman (x2) - Custom handcrafted ranged fighter in the mercenary ranks. Focuses on ranged combat, has a melee weapon to defend self, and a medipack. Stats are more geared to fighting from afar. Quick, fast, and good althletics. Doesn't do too well in close encounters. Protect.
    • Mercenary Heavy (x1) - The tank of the group. Built like the rest from scratch, this guy is meant to take the fight to the enemy. Strong, - but not too strong - the heavy merc focuses on strength and defense at the expense of speed and dodge.
  • Custom faction has been made to suit the mod's purpose. Mercenaries are allied with you at +100. Just like each of the mercenaries, the entire faction was build from scratch.
  • $50,000 starting money. Use it to fund your wildest endevours.. or hoard it.
  • All faction relations custom edited (with some help). There are 4 levels now which are loaded. I tried making it as lore friendly as possible.
    • 0 Relations - Neutral. You don't exist.
    • -25 Relations - Potentially dangerous factions, should be careful.
    • -50 Relations - Dangerous factions, should probably avoid.
    • -100 Relations - Hostile factions. You should steer clear.
    • Anything above 0 - Anything above 0 either likes you or is allied with you.
  • Custom spawn location.
  • Each custom character has their own unique variation of stats to make them unpredictable. The Rich Character has a variable of 5 while each Mercenary type has a variable of 10. This means that their stats can be +10, -10, or anywhere in between, of what they're set to.
  • Custom outpost has been added between Watcher's Eye and Arach at the northwest section of the centre. Includes a lot of features.
    • Walled community, featuring a bar and buyable house (may change).
    • Many defences to ward off danger.
    • Functioning outpost with NPCs that patrol, walk around, and use the items around them.
    • Most NPCs will respawn. The bar civvies and Sellswords will not respawn.
    • Custom mercenary trader which sells a bit of everything, mostly items worn by the custom faction. Sells food, weapons, armour, and even some basic supplies for building. Also sells 3 maps of the surrounding area.
    • Outpost is self-sustaining, meaning that the large attacks that can happen are usually warded off. Sometimes they need your help though!
    • Lots of lights and scattered beds that make up the camp. Lights are placed outside each gate to prevent an unseen attack.
    • Neatly decorated with the resources available.
    • Bar includes a Sellsword squad you can hire. Look for a 'Mercenary Heavy SS.' This should allow you to hire up to about 5 more mercenaries.
  • 3 ways to play, with more if you imagine!
    • You can decide to stay in the outpost by buying the house, getting supplies from the merc trader, and slowly but surely build a nice little home and research a bunch before moving on..
    • ..or you can decide to buy whatever you can from the merc trader right away and be on your merry way. Some think heading to the United Cities is the best decision since they are your friends now that you have money. But the United Cities is on the entire opposite end of the map..
    • ..but you don't have to travel the world just to be accepted or live under someone else's rules; no, you have your own money now! You could venture out to build your own home with your own rules!

Misc.
I'm getting better at Kenshi modding with the help of several other modders and feedback from a few others. I'm loving this modding thing and Kenshi is amazing! If you have recommendations please comment. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'm doing my absolute best, please comment what you think I should add and/or do. Perhaps you'd like me to make a new custom start? I'm down to experiment more! Just post your suggestion with some details or add me. Please enjoy and don't forget to like and comment ideas.

Okay, thought I'd subscribe and give this a shot. Everything was great until I checked faction relations. 36 factions set to mostly -100, with a few at -25. My enemies included such groups as the Trading Guild, Empire Peasants and Shinobi Thieves.

So basically it's a bandit start, but harder than your typical outlaw scenario which might have 3 or 4 sworn enemies or perhaps a dozen in extreme cases. Not only would I need to fight all those spiders, I'd pretty much have to fight anything else I saw too. Forever. Base building would be out of the question, unless it was inside the starting ville or someplace like Black Scratch.

Suggest you tone down the opposition a bit. This is way too much hatred to be justified by 50K and five skilled fighters. Otherwise, it's a very well done mod.

FYI: As this is a challenge mod, the skin spiders are fine, its just another challenge. I only mentioned it because its another challenge. For extra fun folks, go visit that outpost nearby. It'll be really FUN and interesting.

@Aaron522: All downloaded mods for Kenshi (including yours!) are saved in the steam workshop folder, specifically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\233860
So you can download your mod from here, find it in the workshop, make a copy on your hard drive in the Kenshi Mod folder, rename the folder to Mysterious Fortune, and you have your mod again for editting.

@Aaron552™ Will take a look at the Mod and see if I can fix the city for you. May create a squad to roam through it since I'm too lazy currently to create a city of my own. Probably after my current playthrough.

@EuchreJack;

Mod was made when I was extremely new to Kenshi as a whole. I wanted to build where I read Mercenaries usually hide out so I looked around for a decent and open area for the camp. I then started constructing it.

I did not know how dangerous that specific spot was until I was already developing the camp. So for a few hours I developed a stronger camp that could withstand the constant attacks for a while. I tried to automate the camp too.

I watched for a while and it seemed that the camp could survive on its own, depending. I don't think I saw the camp get wiped out at all.

Anyways, it was not intentional but I decided to keep it. If you want, try to see how long they last on their own. I think I lost the files with a factory reset on my PC so I don't think there's anything more I can do to it, unless files are stored on the cloud.

Oh Okran, why have you plagued us with so many Skin Spiders! That starting outpost is swarming with them, and they seem to just appear out of nowhere. I eventually left, as I was unsure how long they were going to be able to hold out.

And yes, all the skin spiders wanted to kill us.

@Freeasabird;

The initial upload was fun. And if modded carefully that 50k cats is enough to outfit everyone with backpacks and make it to the swamp where I normally base.

@Freeasabird;

Not everyone wants to kill you. :) Just backstory, read the changelogs and features. Every faction included in the whole game was custom tailored based on lore. The initial upload, everyone was hostile.

50k cats!? man, i shit 50k cats, like, c'mon. that's f all really, i was expecting something within the range of like, 100 million. 50k cats? Pfft smh :/ you walk into one town and that money is gone. hardly seems worth everyone wanting to kill you over it.

Thanks, @Tadwei!

I haven't worked on it in a while but for the most part it is done.
