The following information about the boat is fictional but the locations mentioned are real, brunswick georgia, darien georgia, savannah georgia and jekyll island georgia are all near or along the georgia coast also the ship does not have much in terms of interiors due to weight problems and it wanting to capsize


The MV Darien was built at the brunswick shipyards across from Jekyll Island georgia on January 1st 1960 as a diesel powered ferry, after changing hands multiple times over the course over its 40 year career it was mothballed in 2000 and nearly wound up scrapped until a group of local maritime enthusiasts saved the ferry from the breakers, beginning in 2001 a meticulous restoration of the ferry was started and was completed in 2009 and that same year saw it sail out of the mothball fleet to its new home port of savannah georgia on january 1st 2010 under its own power to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its launching and as part of the festivities the ferry was officially declared a museum ship and was listed on the national register as a landmark, today the MV Darien does regular tours along the savannah river as well as to jekyll island on certain days and occasionally still operates as an active port ferry taking people across the savannah river channel showing that despite being close to 60 years old the old girl can still get the job done regardless of the age.
