North American P-51D Mustang

The North American P-51d Mustang was a long range fighter-bomber that saw service in World War 2 and the Korean War. The USAF used them as escort fighters; their long range made them ideal for protecting bombers. The RAF used them as fighter-bombers. Over 6000 of this variant were built, and over 15,000 P-51s were built before they were retired in 1984 with the Dominican Air Force. The Mustang was the main fighter of the UN till it was replaced by the F-86 during the Korean War. It is one of the most famous fighters of the Second World War, and for good reason.
