Rough Time Crystal

While time crystals are incredibly useful in fine watches, they are expensive to manufacture. To this end; you have created a rougher version, far less accurate than a normal Time crystal, they have trouble keeping time to the second, but are able to keep time to the minute accurately enough. Perhaps this could make for a cheap watch? Or perhaps hook it up to some sort of alarm as a reminding device?
