Improved stats for Chillrend, including a new enchantment that can be used to spawn Ice Wraiths.

Customization options that allow you to switch some of Chillrend’s effects on and off.

The levelled system has been removed; all versions of Chillrend are identical.

ORIGINAL STATS
Damage: 15 (Equivalent to a Dragonbone Sword)
Enchantment: 30 points of Frost damage, 25% chance to paralyze for 2 seconds.
Uses: Charge/Cost = 3000/72 = 41 uses

NEW STATS
Damage: 15
Enchantment: 45 points of Frost damage. 25% Chance to paralyze for 3 seconds. 50% weakness to Chillrend for 2 seconds. Soul Freeze effect.
Uses: Charge/Cost = 3000/30 = 100 uses

The Soul Freeze effect on Chillrend is, in my opinion, this mod’s main selling point. When power attacking an NPC foe below 25% health, Chillrend will freeze the target’s soul, causing them to explode into shards of ice from which an Ice Wraith is born. This Ice Wraith has a life span of up to 15 seconds, and it will be allied to you, helping you in battle.

Since the Soul Freeze effect works by freezing a foe’s soul, it will not work on targets that are already soul trapped. It is also worth remembering that it will only work on NPCs.

Finally, it is worth remembering that every time you strike an opponent, they will be weakened to Chillrend for 2 seconds. This means that you must strike quickly to gain a damage boost. In effect, this means the faster you attack, the more damage you will inflict.

This mod has several customization options that can be adjusted through the use of console commands (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Console_Commands). To use the commands, open up the console commands section and type: “Set A to B”, where A is the command name and B is a value. The commands and their effects are given below.

For those with SkyUI, all customization options can be adjusted through the use of an MCM menu.

ChillrendGlobal (Possible Values: 1 or 0)
Default: 1
When set to 0, Chillrend will not inflict the Soul Freeze effect. When set to 1, it will.

ChillrendParalysisGlobal (Possible Values: 1 or 0)
Default: 1
When set to 0, Chillrend will not paralyze the target. When set to 1, it will.

ChillrendDamageBonusGlobal (Possible Values: 1 or 0)
Default: 1
When set to 0, Chillrend will not inflict bonus damage when used quickly. When set to 1, it will.

ChillrendLifeSpanGlobal (Possible Values: 1 or above)
Default: 15
This is the maximum lifespan of Ice Wraiths spawned by Chillrend’s Soul Freeze effect in seconds.

Previously, some users have complained that the Soul Freeze effect does not work properly. I have recently remade and updated this effect, and since this update no bugs have been reported.

Previously, another bug was present that caused the Sparks spell to turn NPCs into ice piles. This bug has also been removed.

I don’t like Chillrend’s paralysis effect…can I get rid of it?
Yes. See the customization section for details.

Why isn’t the Soul Freeze effect working?
There are certain criteria that must be met to successfully freeze a target’s soul. You must be power attacking. The target must be an NPC, they cannot be soul trapped, and they must be below 25% health. It will not work on the undead, essential targets, followers or potential followers.

Is Chillrend still levelled?
No. There are five versions of the sword in the vanilla game, and you receive the weakest of these at lower levels and the strongest at higher levels. This mod makes all versions of Chillrend identical, so it doesn’t matter what level you are when you acquire the sword. It has been pointed out to me that this makes the sword overpowered at lower levels, and I agree with this, but I think this is preferable to being stuck with a weak version of Chillrend in the late game.

I have an interesting chillrend issue or perhaps bug. The blade is labeled 'Sword' but when equipped the blade appears visual attached to my characters back like a Greatsword. Any means to reset this or unsubbing/resubbing to the mod does nothing to fix this.

Actually, it still had several varients, the one I got just didn't have the effect. weird...
It also only hits 30 points frost damage.
