Aporyon

Description
Overview

Aporyon have been racing hover craft since before the Orion Federation was founded, and this legacy makes them on of the most respected teams to ever compete in the sport. Though their craft struggles to truly stand out compared to the competition, it does have impressive accerelation and shield integrity with no real weaknesses to speak of. What is most impressive about Aporyon is their consistency - they have never missed a season due to technical problems, which is a record that no other active team can boast.

Lore

Full Team Name: Aporyon.
Permanent Base: Carda Temple-Ship, Starwing Sect Fleet.

Technical specifications: Withheld at request of the team due to religious reasons.

Aporyon is the most historied team competing in the Interstellar Anti-Gravity League. Before the likes of Humans, Aren or Xanta even achieved spaceflight, the Kryon Starfarer sects were celebrating their faith by trying to achieve technological perfection. They held all manner of competitions to test their creations, and one such tradition was the Interstellar Speed Excellence award. This event was not the galactic spectator sport that we enjoy today, but the Spirit of the Race was carried by the competitors even back then. Aporyon was one such competitor, making the team older than the very Orion Federation itself.

Aporyon is entirely managed by members of the Starwing sect, who are unusual amongst Kryon culture for managing to keep up with modern breakthroughs in technology. The Aporyon craft does not have remarkable performance in any one field, but it is indisputable that it is the most sophisticated vehicle on the grid. It contains very few moving parts, instead relying on solid-state gravity projectors for propulsion and handling. If the Starwing technomancers innovated as much as they refined, many believe that no other team would be able to compete with them.

Forest should be a familiar name to fans of the IAGL, as they have acted as lead pilot for Aporyon for almost a millenia now. In comparison, Skye is relatively unknown entity. At less than a century old, they are essentially a child by Kryon standards, so it is interesting to see them representing the team as the secondary pilot. Either they must be a racing savant, or the Aporyon is willing to take a hit in the standings in order to train up a new pilot using trial-by-fire tactics. The status of their previous secondary pilot, Hope, is unknown.

About

I really wanted to make a ship for the species featured in my track 'Harvest Bastion'. Lore-wise, this is from a different culture to the inhabitants of Iros, but I thought it would be fun anyway. I'm really leaning into the hand-painted aesthetic now, rather than trying to emulate the style of the base game - but I hope that they're not too dissimilar that they look out of place.

Thanks

Sup BNG discord, you are cool and stuff. ;)
