With new advances in small air to air missiles, most planes by IMT have been rendered obsolete, and drastic action had to be taken over the design aspects of their planes. The top engineers had devised a plan to rectify this. Create the fastest jet they had ever designed Thus, the XJ-13 was born.

The project was not without setbacks. The frame was too small for a double engine setup, and engineers argued over whether the plane should be a smaller single engine or larger dual engine. Research into smaller air to air missiles was expensive and time consuming. However, once the final plane was fit for production, it quickly rose into fame, becoming the top favorite plane among pilots for its incredible speed and manuverability. While hopelessly outmatched against ships, seeing this jet in a dogfight meant certain death.
