Douglas Alpha class Fighter (VAN)

The Alpha modification to the Douglas class came as a result of experience of Planetary Defense missiles, and useage of ground based rocket turret sites. This modification adds extra armor around the cockpit and midsection of the ship, and ensures an almost 50% greater survival rate if hit by regular rockets. Against dedicated high yield anti ship missiles, however, the protection gained is minimal, at best.
