茂名市位于广东省西部，以炼油、乙烯生产为龙头的石油化工工业在全国占有重要位置，是广东省重要的能源、原材料和重化工业基地，故有“南方油城”之美誉。
本地图以茂名市茂南区为中心，东起包茂高速，西至茂化快线，南达电白区水东港和吴川市（属于湛江），北抵高州站。水系包括袂花江、小东江及其支流等。新修的汕湛高速、旧有铁路和新修动车轨道等交通设施铺设完备。

Maoming is located in the west of Guangdong (Canton) Province. Maoming's petrochemical industry occupies a momentous position in China. It is an important chemical industry base of Guangdong Province, too. Therefore, Maoming enjoys the fame of "Oil City".
This map takes downtown Maonan District as the centre, stretching from Baomao Expressway in the east, to Maohua Expressway in the west, from Shuidong Harbour, Dianbai District and Wuchuan (belonging to Zhanjiang) in the south, to Gaozhou Railway Station in the north. The river system includes Meihua River, Xiaodongjiang River and their tributaries. The newly built Shan-Zhan Expressway, the old railways and the newly built bullet train tracks are ready in the map.
