This medium weight truck was developed by Mercedes Benz's engineers in Brazil, specifically for South American needs. The first models were released in 1989, having a real good market acceptance thanks to the good performance features. Its capacity were 11,5 tons, making it one of the most suitable and rentful truck for short and medium range distances.
Its remarkable new features - for the late 80's - were the beautiful design, ergonomic cabin improvements, larger windows, offering the driver a good on-the-road and maneuvering visibility, and the fact that all the truck parts were really easy and cheap to find, once the truck shared them with all the other MB truck models of that line.
It was exported for almost all south american countries, with many variations and new series, incuding a truck tractor version. The last manufactured model was the L1620, released in 1996 and replaced in 2012 by the suchlike ATRON model. Nevertheless, with the implantation of the EURO 6 norm, already a bit outdated and facing strong competition from VW trucks, the ATRON production had it discontinuation announced by MB in 2015. Its place on the market is now occupied by the also successful MB ATEGO and AXOR.

However, there are still thousands of these trucks on the road. Some of them in excellent conditions! Enjoy! Take a ride!
