Sanghelios is the fourth planet from the stars Urs in the triple star system of Urs-Fied-Joori. The planet is notable for its brilliant reddish atmosphere and the vast amount of islands that litter its watery surface.

The planet is the homeworld of the Sangheili (known to humanity as "Elites"). The Sangheili, a warrior-and-honor-based species, has inhabited the planet for millennia. The planet is dotted with Forerunner artifacts and structures, which served as a basis of religious following for the Sanheili who worshiped these items and their creators. After becoming an early space-faring civilization, Sanghelios and its inhabitants were found by the San'Shyuum, a race which also worshipped the Forerunners. After a bloody war between the two, the Sangheili joined the San'Shyuum in the creation of the religious alliance known as the Covenant, with the Sangheili acting as the military arm of said alliance. For long, Sanghelios stood as the military center of the Covenant until its collapse.

Following the collapse of the Covenant, the surface was further ravaged by civil wars amongst the Sangheili to gain control over its surface. This ended between the independence-seeking "Swords of Sanghelios", led by Arbiter Thel V'adam, and remnants of the Covenant led by Sangheili. This era would become known as the "Blooding Years", and has since marked a peaceful era for the species and the planet.

Despite its looks, the planet is very similar to Earth- it's atmosphere is of very similar composition and density, as well as hosting liquid water and organic vegetation similar to that on Earth.

Use the mod recommended above for the ideal appearance of the planet, as is seen in the screenshots also above. All credit for the base heightmap goes to the creators of the Sins of the Prophets mod, without whom such awesome Halo mods couldn't be possible!
