Once upon a time in the United States, you could tune into The Weather Channel every 8th minute and get your local forcast from a program called WeatherSTAR (or IntelliSTAR from 2004 on). This segment would eventually be called the "Local on the 8's" It was everything you needed to know. Current conditions for you, your region, the 3 day forecast in detail, later in IntelliSTAR the 7 day forecast, current radar... all to the tune of smooth jazz. This quickly became the staple of TWC, and many fell in love with the channel largely because of it. In the late 2000's though, through new technology and changes in management, the system changed. It's still on the 8's, but not every 8's if the program is one of the unwelcomed reality programming. It's now got in house music that has had the same playlist for years now. It's just not the same... This CSL Radio Station harks back to that time, specifically from 1990-2004.
