LUDDLINE Medium Oil Tanker

Description
A medium sized fluid tanker capable of carrying 81,000 litres in the storage tanks and about 12,500 in its fuel tanks. It travels about 19 knots empty and 12 loaded. It has an intricate pumping system allowing for:

- Individual tank connection to the inflow and outflow pumping lines
- Tank crossfeed to allow for transfer of fluid between storage tanks
- Seawater inflow (and outflow) valve to fill empty tanks and increase stability
- Storage-to-fuel crossfeed to either sell the contents of your fuel tanks, or if you're in a pinch and need to burn some of your cargo because you ran out of fuel. (Only transfers between fuel tanks and storage tank 1)

The pumping system is great for increasing your loading speed. If you do a triangle trade and take crude to the refinery and then buy diesel, you can empty tank one first, then while you're selling your next tank you can fill the first tank you emptied with your next cargo instead of waiting for all tanks to drain before starting loading.

The ship is very stable, even completely unloaded.

There are a number of safety features on the bridge including a draft warning alarm, roll alarm, and a line-part alarm warning you when your mag-all mooring lines are about to separate. There's also a water ingress alarm, but this thing is nearly impossible to hole. It took me 30 tries driving full speed at the rock just outside the Creative harbor just to test the alarm.

Just to confirm, i had the same problem with crude oil as SurvivorSean, and just like him regular diesel works fine. Don't know why though and probably not gonna bother with crude anyway.

Good ship otherwise, huge capacity, cheap to build, easy to use, cool pump system and a handy calculator.

Yeah that works well for emergency battery now. Got to use your pumping system last night. Of all cases it took place when moored to the oil drill. Apparently the waves was digging in at the bottom of the hull. How do you best use the mooring lines? I understand how they turn on but what will they hook up to? What do you recommend at a dock with one side or even an oil well? The refinery I can see working well, but the others unfortunately even secured on one side may have waves pushing against the moored side. Then of course there is nothing to moor up against on the opposite side, and no anchor to hold in place. Again having lots of fun with this ship, hoping to be able to load and unload in light non storm waves. Calm waters is not an issue.

Yeah I actually swapped the in and out going to the tanks. In is now at the top and out is now at the bottom. That seems to have solved the issue. Good to know about the emergency breaker as I had them on with the other power. I'll keep that breaker off to reduce the load on the batteries in normal operation. Very nice ship to operate!

And as to your question about the emergency generators, there are none. There is an emergency battery which can be cut-in to the main power circuit to allow you to start the engines even with your main batteries dead. Just make sure you minimize other power consumption by turning off the lights, pumps, etc. With the engines started, you cut the emergency power out and the main batteries will charge back up.

Hi SurvivorSean, I can't say I've encountered the problem you're experiencing. Though I have noticed that as the tanks get to the bottom it becomes more difficult to pump them out. I thought it's because Stormworks actually simulates the work the pumps have to do to move the fluid vertically, but perhaps I made a mistake somewhere. Did you swap the in/out ports on all of the storage tanks or just the ones that were giving you problems? I'm pretty sure I had the port in the top of the tank be the input, and the port at the floor be output.

Might have figured out the issue of unable to unload a completely full oil load. I believe the out and in valves are backwards. I swapped them above the tanks (IN to the top, OUT to the bottom) and now on my latest test it's working. Of course regardless the rate of unloading slows down as it unloads more, but at least it's unloading now. Fuel for some reason I've never had an issue unloading. Perhaps it was a glitch or something, but I'm happy with the new setup now.

it's good!

So I need some help here, hopefully your still watching as I like this ship. I have tanks 1 to 4 completely full of crude oil and trying to sell at the refinery. I have hooked up the out and it's set to pump to storage on the dock. For some reason I can sell diesel no problem, but the crude oil simply will not leave the tanks. Pump and tanks are on it either goes slow or not at all. Any ideas? Thank-You.

Love it. Curious about emergency generators and how they work. Do I keep my engines off and they will just kick in? Does it have a battery meter?

The sliding doors on the deck level keeps opening and closing and why can't I leave the bridge whilst sailing? Other than that it's a fine ship
