Sikorsky H-34 French Navy

Description
English version here : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2065385798

This french navy Sikorsky H-34 is an helicopter suited for transport and SAR (Search And Rescue) missions.
Very versatile, its cabin can be fitted with various equipment, allowing it to achieve many different tasks.

The cockpit offer a broad field of view, especially the bottom thanks to its glass doors, open them to have an even better view during low altitude maneuver.

The front can open to access the engine compartment.

If the collective ("pas collectif") is lowered down to -0.50, the engine will turn to slower mode (0.15 gaz). Useful to save fuel while landed without shutting down the engine. (the slow mode will not maintain a sufficient battery level for immediate take-off)

Follow thoroughly the check-list to get started (at least the first time), this helicopter require tact and skill for the start-up.

!-!-!->EXTREMELY IMPORTANT<-!-!-!
Mind your head while exiting the cockpit, otherwise you will do a "Louis XVI" (it's french tradition, but still)

Check-list :

Start-up
  1. "Batterie principale" ON
  2. Use a GPU if battery < 0.30
  3. "Circuit général" ON
  4. "Réserve" OFF

  6. "Pas collectif" -0.20
  7. "Embrayage" -0.10 (clutch)
  8. "Frein de rotor" 1 (rotor brake)
  9. "Contact" ON
  10. "Générateur" ON

Take-off
  1. "Freins" ON (brakes)
  2. "Circuit portes" ON breaker in the cabin
  3. "Batterie sécurité" ON switch on the red panel at the rear of the cabin
This safety battery supply the portholes ejection system and the transponder
  4. Unfold tail
  5. Indicator "queue détachée" (loose tail) is off
  6. Battery is full (1)
  7. Release "frein de rotor" (0)
  8. "Embrayage" 0.45
  9. Engine RPM ~700
  10. "Embrayage" full (1)
  11. "Richesse" 0.15
  12. "Freins" OFF
  13. "Pas collectif" -0.05

Alarm system
Buzzer
  • Beep 1 : Beep when the collective is at -0.01 (hovering threshold)
  • Warning 1 : Low fuel warning (activate once when fuel level go under 600 litres)
  • Warning 2 : Loose tail warning (won't activate if "embrayage" = -0.10)
  • Warning 3 : Low rotor RPM warning (RPM < 2000) (won't activate if "pas collectif" < -0.19 and "embrayage" = -0.10)

Light signals
  • "Batterie faible" : the main batterie level is under 0.75
  • "Niveau carburant" : the main tank level is under 600 litres
  • "Queue détachée" : the tail isn't locked in its flight position
  • "Frein rotor engagé" : the rotor brake isn't fully unlocked
  • "Réserve vide" : the auxiliary tank is empty

Technical data :

Cockpit
  • Permanent double command
  • Auto hover ("Vol stationnaire")
  • Auto altitude hold ("Maintien altitude") (very basic system, only efficient in stationary flight)

Cabin
Standard layout :
  • 1 radio post emitter/receiver
  • 13 seats
  • 2 medical beds
  • 2 mag
  • 2 floor rails for additional equipments
  • 2 scuba
  • 2 parachutes

  • 1 20m fuel hose in the engine compartment
  • 2 ejectable portholes in case of emergency
If you transport fuel in the cabin, don't forget to keep the side door open to prevent flammable gas from pilling up. Only for RP of course :^)

  • Can be deployed in all hangar

Perfomances
  • Max speed 70 knots
  • Cruise speed 60 knots
  • Tank 2800 litres (diesel)
  • Reserve tank 185 litres
  • Autonomy max ~1hr
  • Autonomy on reserve tank 5mn
  • Max fret 1.2 tons

  • Those values are right for a fully clutched rotor.
  • If all the circuits are closed (ON), the generator will need to turn at 550 RPM (power 5) minimum to maintain the battery level.
  • In case of battery charging issues, open the "circuit portes" (breaker in the cabin).
The doors will turn off in an open position.
  • Flight stability will be dangerously deteriorated if the rotor RPM go above 5000.
