Description
A lighter version of the automated Bucket Chain Excavator. Roughly a third smaller, but all the more complex!
Featuring a discharge boom that automatically stays in one spot despite the housing twisting and moving underneath, all without any scripts nor mods!

Fully automatic bucket chain excavator, or BCE for short. This time more in its usual look with the canted A frame pointing to the front instead of the giant bucket wheel excavator frame as seen in the larger, hybrid build.
Unfortunately I was not able to get a real chain going, but the rest of the operating principles remain the same. Large strips of overburden can be removed with ease, making this an excellent ice strip miner, or terrain leveler for ground.

Too small? You don't want just any ice, you want ALL the ice? Check out the big brother to this bad boy! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1677451071

READ CAREFULLY!!!

Simple as all hell to use.
2 control stations, one on the main carriage with which you can drive with, and another on the top with a button panel.

To start, find a good spot and put on parking brake.
Hit 6 to start flat mining, and 9 to stop. It's that easy! Everything is automated :)

On the upstairs button panel you have the options to manually toggle the reeving for front and rear parts of the boom as well as the start/stop commands.

If you wish to cut deeper, the machine needs additional discharge ports (ejectors/connectors) as otherwise the drills get too heavy. You can also extend the boom with more drills, but above applies to this as well. In its current setup, it should be good to mine ice and other surfaces without issue, but should an issue exist let me know ASAP so I can adjust the default cut depth.
To adjust cut depth, adding max extension range to group "reeving" rear increases cut depth and so on, front reeving adjusts the tilt angle of the chain boom. Recommend you tune in 0.1 increments.

HOX! Featuring a high discharge boom that tracks a spot roughly 40m behind the vehicle dropping ore etc on it. The delicate sensor system requires the hanging piece so please be careful so as to not nick or break that piece (one with the LCD screen on it)

As usual if you have feedback, ideas for future builds or issues with this one let me know and we can work that out together :)

Enjoy!

is there any way of building this in survival?

Impressive build.

@Dave.Lister.2 Hey! It would be fantastic to be able to build subgrids in that way, but as far as I know there is no way to do that __SAFELY__. If I was to merge a subgrid into main grid, it would surely clang out as the component is now under tension, and tension is what invites clang. Sure you could merge everything together with a guiderail allowing projection, but as soon as it gets done it would explode ruining everything you have around it.

Hey Octo, would it be possible to put in temporary blocks to make the whole contraption one grid for survival? that can then be separated into it's operating parts.

@Dustfire A stratotanker? Oof, good suggestion but I don't want to build military vehicles. Plenty of other much greater builders exist for those and I'm all about that industry side of things ;)

Oh! What about one of those big flying tanker aircraft they use for mid-air refueling?

@Stranger-Come-Knocking We were all new once... and hey, even after a thousand and a half hours into this I'm still learning new tricks every time I boot up the game :)

@Dustfire Thank you! I've ran out of ideas on what to build next now that all the big mean machines are done...

Thanks man, I'm a total noob to this game, so still trying to figure it out

Absolutely brilliant, I've really enjoyed a lot of your 'Realistic' creations as of late! keep up the good work.

@Stranger-Come-Knocking I'm guessing you're talking about projecting the BCE in order to build it? In that case you're shit out of luck because projectors do not project subgrids (items attached to rotors) And boy does this build rely on those!
I recommend chopping it up in a creative world somewhere and creating blueprints for separate sub-assemblies which you then build and connect to the main vehicle in survival if that's your mode of choice. Though with the giant size you're gonna need a giant crane to do that... oh the joys of heavy industry ;)
