This is only a single level demo of a possible remaster. Please read the PAQ below for more details
Secondly, this mod uses several replacement files, details of which can be found in the description.
Thirdly, this is not a replacement map. Also, please check all required workshop files on the sidebar before downloading.


FOREWARD
Around mid-January, I had been itching to try and take one level from Serious Sam 3, and give it a rebalance/remaster treatment of sorts. What resulted from this a remastered edition of Karnak (also known as "The Dark Bride"), here are some ideas of how I would manage a Serious Sam 3 remaster. What I've learned from doing this? Scripting is a royal pain in the butt. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this little map modification, please observe the mod's general information and the PAQ below if you have any questions.

THE CHANGES

OVERALL
- Added some traps/"puzzles" and changed some sequences of the level to try and pace it a little better.
- Modified many and completely rebalanced certain fights and rooms, increased enemy variety. New Coop-enemies added.
- Added Firecrackers, Bombers, Common Reptiloids, and a modified version of NSKuber's TLH Witch-Bride.
- Rebalanced and retooled some weapons and enemies. The Lasergun and the Sniper Rifle are now part of your main weapon arsenal, they are no longer secret-exclusive.
- Ammo distribution changed, ammo types like rockets, cells, and devastator rounds should be more common now. Exploration of the map is encouraged, check all corners to find hidden items.
- Added two new secrets.

WEAPONS
- Single Shotgun magazine size changed to 10 shells, shotgun spread widened by a small margin.
- Double Shotgun now fires 15 pellets (dealing 150 damage) and reloads in 1.6 seconds, instead of 1.7.
- Assault Rifle clip size changed to 40 bullets.
- Minigun rate of fire slightly increased, also has some very minor spread at a distance.
- Devastator clip size changed to 10, maximum ammo capacity reduced to 50 shells. Devastator shell pickups now reward 10 shells instead of 20.
- Sniper Rifle rate of fire slightly decreased, maximum ammo capacity reduced to 30 bullets.

ENEMIES
- Gnaar health increased from 70 to 90, matching their classic counterparts.
- Scrapjack health increased to 540, they now take four rockets/devastatorshells/double shotgun blasts to kill. They also cannot be melee'd without being stunned now, like in the original game.
- TLH Witch-Bride now has added damage resistance to certain weapon types.

AESTHETICS
- Changed the skybox and lighting a bit.
- Added details in various rooms, re-distanced the background mountains and made the city area visible, like in the actual real-world location. It's not one-to-one since the Nile isn't visible, but hey, that's limited assets and low map-making skills on my part.

MISCELLANEOUS
- Palm trees in this level can now be destroyed easily using the Sledgehammer and shotguns.
- Contains additional sound files from Serious Sam 2 and DOOM 3.

POTENTIALLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q1. Why does this mod use replacement files?

A. As part of the experimentation in rebalancing certain elements, it's quicker and simpler to replace the files rather than create new ones. If this mod ever continues, this will be changed.

Q2. I can't load the map. What's happening?

A. If you're receiving this error, open the console using the tilde key (~) on the error screen page, and take a screenshot using F12. Post a link to that here so I can determine where the conflict is. Again, please ensure you have all content on the sidebar subscribed to.

Q3. What's the point of this mod if BFE Enhanced exists?

A. BFE Enhanced is BFE Enhanced, and ASSSS3R is ASSSS3R. These are simply different concepts/ideas I had in mind for a possible remaster. If you want a full remaster, I strongly encourage you to play BFE Enhanced if you haven't already.

Q4. Will you modify more/all of SS3's campaign? What about the DLC levels?

A. If the reception is generally positive and people want to see more, then yeah, I'll probably do more. However, this would be under certain conditions:
I would only work on and release the mod in stages (e.g. one level at a time) as an ongoing project. This is because modifying the gameplay is a very, very time-consuming process. I'd started working on this one level back in mid-January, and barring one week where I was out of my Province, I'd been working on it frequently ever since (especially over the past two weeks). I also want to leave time to do other things besides modding, and if I'm working or doing university studies, it will take longer.

Furthermore, I haven't considered doing DLC levels just yet. I'd rather not think about those for now.

Known Bugs
- There is a bug related to key-icons not disappearing. I'll fix this later.

Why Sacor? At least make it 20 like in original. 10 shells is really low for devastator. You cant even use that weapon properly. I'm not against ammo gain. At least ammo cap should be 20/40.

To become perfect this map needs far more enemies in waves. More easy, low HP hordes to keep you busy. Other than that, quite solid experience. Keep up the good work! :)

You know you can download a buff shotgun mod for ss3's single shotgun and double shotgun right?

I smell some serious improvements.
Also, Sacor, please buff the SShotgun to do 75 damage so it performs as well as DBShotgun.

The map turned out to be good, interesting and moderately complex, at the end there is a bug with sand textures you can see white stitches on the sides.
Please fix the seams.

I've played the updated version some time ago. I'm not gonna write another long review because that's pointless. I'm just gonna say that the changes that you've made are very good and they've made the map much more enjoyable and interesting. You are heading in a good direction.
