Save the Cube, Kill the Turrets v2

Description
Saving the cube is the real puzzle here. Killing the turrets, more of a quick rampage at the end. The level might look pretty big, but I think once you figure out your first step, the others will follow logically.

#F4F : Rate and comment on this map, and I will do the same for one of your maps. Thanks, and enjoy!

Unique level. Very nice, easy logic.

I'm pretty sure I broke it. I didn't use most of the stuff in there. It's easily preventable though.

Mitch, thanks for the feedback. I know the feeling of putting off something that seems too "obvious" (like a big red button right as you walk out the entrance), and then forgetting it was there. I'm glad you enjoyed the level. (or I hope you did :-)

@Prototype, your second solution seems close enough to my intended solution that I don't think I'll be doing any more patching. I don't want to deprive players from being able to find at least a couple shortcuts! And thank you for recording the demos of your playthroughs.

@mood3rd, I can't quite picture exactly how you did the last couple steps, but it sounds about like how I pictured. Your comment about the size is funny, because it is totally related to how this level evolved.

My whole "vision" for the level was the player running around, full speed, clearing the path for a cube and keeping it out of trouble. By the time I realized that players didn't want that kind of frantic pace (on a level that already seemed large and complex), I cut out the "running around" part of the concept, and just left the little puzzle of how to move the cube around.

Hard to stay true to a "vision" after the feedback from the initial audience test screenings! :-)

Fun one! I made the mistake of avoiding the very first button, for no reason at all. Just skipped it, like a moron. So I spent 5 or 10 minutes walking around and feeling confused about where I might find a cube to rescue. Ha! Thanks.

(P.S. I don't have anything new in my workshop, but thanks for the f4f!)

thankyou for the updated version, without the timer.
when I got the cube, I was happy from that point onwards.
killing turrets, is always fun.
when I got to the 3 buttons, near the end, I had left my cube behind.
but funeled up, then moved forward, to reach the ledge & walk to the cube.
portaled back to the 3 buttons, with the cube.
I used the funel to move turrets, that were on portable floors.
where laser & blue gel did not reach.
if you design a similar map with funeling the cube around.
may I suggest, puting the player in the center, for a better view.
maybe the size would not be an issue, then ?

glad you updated & I re-tested.
I had fun :)
thumbs up

@Prototype, I would sooner destroy a stained glass window than a clever, quirky shortcut discovered by an artist like yourself.

However, since I can't have you completing the whole level in less than a minute, I made a few tweaks so that your shortcut is now the first step toward an alternate, more ninja-like solution.

Be sure to start the cube dispenser before trying it again! :-)

Nope, I haven't yet solved this the intended way. I found two solutions to this one, my demo below and in a way similar to my solution to v1. After finding two different solutions I didn't bother finding the "normal" solution.

@Prototype! That's awesome! You crazy ninja! Is there no portalable surface you can't get to?? :-)

You make me have to add ugly grating in front of all my pretty white surfaces! :-o

Just out of curiosity, did you also run through it the "normal" way, as you looked for ways to slash & burn through it?

Thanks for the demo file!
