Description
When a small task force needs a fortified shelter that is nigh invulnerable to external bombardment, the most commonly used method is to build the structure beneath the ground. The Subterranean Hanger is one such structure designed to withstand a great deal of enemy bombardment, and is separated into two layers so that a determined invading enemy force would have to resort to a ground-invasion in order to neutralize the base.

Each of the two hangers are 9(wide)x8(long)x5(height), so any craft that can fit within that should be fine. For reference, the tank used in the screenshot is slightly over 7-long and is a tight fit, but I can get in and out of it through the back door without issue.

The surface layer of the base is made of armored concrete, and is quite capable of withstanding a great deal of damage. It also comes with solar panels for main power and turrets for perimeter defense. There are however buried backup generators in case the solar panels should ever be taken out (or its just one day cloudy too many). It also comes with the main access point into the underground portion of the base, and is large enough to accommodate most small vessels and hovercraft, just don't expect your land-cruiser to fit in here.

The subterranean layer is a fully functional base with all the basic amenities one would require (hydroponics, medical bay, constructors, cargo, ect) alongside the two hangers. On top of that, the base comes with numerous auxiliary functions. These functions are listed:
- Security Lockdown: Lowers all internal blinds and activates internal sentry guns. These will slow down an invading force.
- Hanger 1 Door: Controls the doorway to hanger 1. Necessary due to space limitations.
- Hanger 2 Door: Same as above, but for the other hanger.
- Power Saving mode: Disables most of the switches controlling the lights inside the structure. Doesn't save much power, but its something.
- External Defenses: Off by Default. Activates external turrets responsible for perimeter defense.
- Backup Generator: Activates a backup fuel-based generator in case the solar power ever becomes inadequate for powering the structure. There are fuel cells included of course.

Note: The constructors and lights in that area are not controlled by a motion sensor. They are controlled by a rather...conspicuous switch located in the room itself. You should see it immediately.

There is one snag with this structure. Excavation. You have to dig all the dirt out yourself. I did so with an decent 6-drill HV miner for the entryway and hangers, and a T2 hand drill for the internal structure. It took about 3-4 hours total, which isn't that bad compared to something like the MS-Titan (just one of its sections). I would recommend you put on a movie or podcast in the background while digging it out. I tried to keep the structure as compact as possible to minimize the amount of work that needs to be done.

One last note: This structure requires no Sathium, Neodynium, Zacosium, or Erestrum, just a little cobalt.

UPDATE 6-5-22 - Fixes a few textures, added blast doors linked to lockdown, entryway sensors will detect NPCs now. Core moved to computer room to comply with base defense rules. Tier-3 CPU cores added. Structure now considered hybrid power, solar alone is not enough to sustain it 24hs now. Also fixed that shutter in the entryway that was wired to the wrong signal.
