Description
Known the world over as the pinnacle for the field, the Smithsonian institiution is a series of museums and intellectual establishments founded 'for the increase and diffusion of knowledge'. Since then, it has spread to dozens of separate establishments, including the National Air and Space Museum and the Natural History Museum, both based in Washington, D.C.. The Smithsonian has become known for the unique nature of their exhibitions, with the items on display including Charles Lindbergh's record-breaking Spirit of St. Louis and the Hope Diamond. Ingame, the Smithsonian Institute has four slots for Great Works of Art, which when filled with four Artifacts from different civilizations yield a theming bonus. The wonder requires Biology.

Requires the Brave New World expansion pack, and credit to co-author Sukritact for the icon and basis of the Civilopedia

May i ask? What i have to do for getting thr theme bonus? My game kinda broke and i cant move my great works. so i must work with IGE to get those bonuses. (basically i cant see the slots when i move to tourism but they are still there if i move to city screen). Thanks for reply

It is "The Smithsonian Institution" not Institute. I know because I work there! Just look at the web page: si.edu.

Regardless of the fact it doesn't need to hold prisoners to be an instution, it technically does if you count the exhibits.

I think there's a difference between an Institution and an Institute? The Smithsonian is the latter.

Very nice, except the Smithsonian isn't an institution. (At least AFAIK nobody is being institutionalized there.) ;)
