STATUS G500

Description

Vehicles can be a bit of a pain to use and drive. What with their switches, and levers, and buttons, and clutches... Not anymore.

Just get in, turn the key, release the handbrake, and go. When it's time to reverse, just hold 'S'. You don't have to come to a complete stop, you don't have to mess with a clutch, and you don't have to press a button.

When it's time to slow down, whether you're going forward or backward, the natural response is to press the throttle in the opposite direction. This works. Brake pressure is linear, and based on the amount of negative throttle. In other words, it just works the way you would expect it to.

No more crazy oversteer. At high speeds, steering is smooth and responsive, while at lower speeds, it is quick and sensitive. It simply drives like you would expect it to...

The 4WD system is controlled by two buttons on the dash. To move from RWD to 4WD press either button. 4WD Hi sends power to all 4 wheels while allowing for high speed off road driving. 4WD Lo gears the drive transmissions down to 1:1 for more torque for tackling steep slopes.

The steering is set up such that it is very responsive, while keeping the vehicle as firmly planted as possible. This doesn't mean you can't roll it over. When the tires begin to squeal, let off the gas or stop turning. It is possible to set this vehicle up in such a way that it IS nearly impossible to roll, and if you're such a dangerous driver that you need such safety measures, then...

Poke around the logic in the editor:

Many modules such as the steering and brake control systems are adjustable.

If the engine is still running after you've turned the key off, it should be. It will turn off once the batteries are fully recharged.

I really hope you enjoy my first Stormworks workshop submission. I have spent many, many hours polishing it, and making it as perfect as possible for you. Constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

Special thanks to Tajin for his Ackermann steering, which is included in my speed sensitive steering microcontroller.

As always, please respect the time and effort I've invested in making this for you, and refrain from uploading copies or modified versions. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a versatile design, and I have several modified versions planned.

Most of all, thank you for checking it out and downloading it. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I have enjoyed creating it!

3/21/19: Increased steering sensitivity and decreased brake sensitivity.

Glad to hear you like it. I'd rather people didn't upload revisions of my work though.
