Covenator Flight II Class Heavy Cruiser (VAN)

The Covenator Flight II class ships were newly built, and refurbished Covenator refit class ships that are modified to suit modern requirements. Due to the Xenthi War taking a toll on the Earth Navy, even after the cessation of Hostilities between the Outer Colony seperatists and the partial inclusion of their former navy into the ranks, Earth found itself losing ships on a higher basis than anticipated. Thus, the Covenators, which were to be fully replaced by the Antares, were brought back and heavily redesigned. A new hanger was placed on both sides of the engineering section, as well as the weight being reduced by several million kilograms, increasing manuverability. While many saw the reduction of armor as an unacceptible compromise, the result most certainly paid off, as the new ship was now able to compete with the newer ship design.
